Autism Speaks Walk

It doesn't matter if you had children this was a great cause to be apart of so I`m glad I could do my part. I joined my Mocha Mom sisters in our community service project to walk for Autism Speaks at Atlantic Station. It was a pretty nice crowd filled with support teams, they also had lots of information for Autism. Yall know I was late! Autism effects all races, creeds, and colors all over the world. It is made up of several complex brain development disorders. (www.autismspeaks.org) These disorders are characterized, in varying degrees, by difficulties in social interaction, verbal and nonverbal communication and repetitive behaviors. It can be diagnoses as early as 2-3yo moreover that's why this walk was so important because research and treatment are still needed. Even if you didn't walk they had activities and great interaction surrounding the cause including a DJ!

I simply told him that these kids are special just like you!

  1. Good for you, being active in your community. I wish everyone would. Autism is special to us, we have several friends who have children affected and awareness is the beginning of a cure and the start of helping others to be more accepting.
