Pretty Girls Rock

Yes its true pretty girls do rock dresses all spring and summer long!!! I linked up this summer with the fabulous women`s inspirational blog Pretty Girls Rock Dresses for their summer dress challenge via Facebook. I had planned on rocking dresses as much as a possible anyway, why not! It is the empowering famine feeling you get when you ROCK a dress no matter how you may feel. We love dresses for parties, shopping, graduations, and work moreover it gives us confidence to conquer the world that we run lol! If I could rock a pretty dress like back in the day when women could only wear them I could in my opinion. Back to the challenge, all the beautiful ladies showed off their pretty garments by posting a photo and giving a brief description on what they were wearing and why. We were connecting a uniting as sisters all across the country and that warmed my heart! I got in the action a little and even won dress star of the day, say what!!! Its was great experience to be apart of with such pretty girls in all shapes and sizes who encouraged, laughed, networked, and had fun with one another. Can`t wait to do it again next year.  Besides the warm weather makes it easy to rock a dress and we had moms, grandmothers, lil divas, regnant chicas, and prom girls rocking dresses in addition to fab bloggers and business women. Head on over to www.prettygirlsrockdresses.com for all the pretty girl action! Huge shot out to the pretty girl herself Dee Win for her awsome movement.

My Weekend World

I love weekends in my opinion its when LIFE begins lol! Its my chance to to feel free and party like its 1999, well you know what I mean. I enjoy going to events and outings however this weekend is pretty laid back. Lets get the party started with Jaydon`s birthday party on Friday (my bff`s nephew) at Fun Junction USA! We had a great time with all the rides, go carts riding, and the indoor playground. He is a big boy now and I know he enjoyed his party! Oh Fun Junction formally Dixieland in Fayetteville was on our summer activities list. I have been there in a while, anywho you should check it out because they have $1 rides and attractions.

Part 2 on Saturday I met a a mommy friend girl at the mall for a kiddie event that I completely missed! Mike the Knight was there with all his knights and princess! You know from the cartoon from Nick Junior! We did some mall surfing and chit chatting because I had not seen her since high school and via facebook......she got Chase`s some event goodies and we got a little dolled up!
tried on a pink matte lippy and threw my glitter the end! Her little ladies are the cutest, just wanted to take them home with me! I have been feeling the baby girl blues but that`s a whole other post!

Saved the best for last! Sunday will be spent in God`s house......whoot. I must may caught up on my domestic duties.

Hope yall had a wonderful weekend!!! What did you do or not do?

Sprayground In The City

Its Oooo-ffical summer is upon us and I feel like if we can`t beat the heat we must join it! Yeah you know about the traditional and a wee bit pricey water parks but I bet you never heard of this! A splash pad or sprayground is a wonderful hybrid between a water park and a swimming pool ......playground + water!!!! They are awesome and you can pack up the cooler and make a whole day of it if you want! Bring all the usual summer pool musts; like sun tan lotion, swim suits, and beach towels, oh yeah its the real deal baby! I love to take my son and we have been to a few spraygrounds around Atlanta because its free, he go to playground before or after, and mama can keep her natural dry! They have several locations in the metro Atlanta and other surrounding areas. Did I mention that they are just a few years old?? Here is a list of the hot, I mean cool spots........some I have went to!

  • Riverside Splash N Play -$1 (Roswell)
  • Spray Station at East Roswell Park -$1 (Roswell)
  • Center Hill Park and Sprayground (Atlanta)
  • Stanton Park and Splash N Play (Atlanta)
  • Perkerson Park Splash Pad (Atlanta)
  • Historic Fourth Ward Park and Sprayground (Atlanta)
  • Laurel Park Sprayground (Gainesville)
  • Spray Pad at Old Atlanta Park -$2 (Suwanee)
There are bunch of other local pools, fountains and aquatic centers near you so let the kids get their water fun on this summer!

This is the restroom at Old Fourth Ward Park, fancy!!!

Baby bear acting shy at Old Fourth Ward.

Look at sun shining on my son!

Mommy and me but check out that flight of stairs behind me and the also have a lake, trails, and other sitting areas around Old 4W.

At Old 4W you do get that urban city feel/view.

Omg this is not even half of the playground in which its eco friendly and very futuristic, see that turf like ground?

This is D.H Stanton and it was pretty cool! They have mini mountains, picnic areas, and a huge multi purpose field.

We have also visited Perkerson Park Splash pad last year! Well hope this helps and how do you and your family keep cool in the summer time?

Aging with Grace

Fast forward about 20 years from now and imagine that your hair has turned completely GREY!!! I would not dye or try to cover up my fabulous grey locks so don't judge me lol because that means I have maturity and wisdom so I must rock it! What would you do flaunt it, dye it, or cover it up??  Hair is very important to us and we love to try new styles and hair products so dying your hair may be easy as you rocking the latest trend! In addition to that what would you want your grand kids to call you when you become a fabulous grandma? Mimi, yaya (grandma in Spanish), or gram are some options. Recently I have heard of sugar mama and her sugar babies in addition to glam-ma and her glam babies! We all love our big mama and nana right! I am looking forward to being a fab women of certain age......when the time comes! Whatever the hair color and whatever the grand kids call you all that matters is true beauty never fades. Oh and I will stay in lane my with my church hats, garden parties and family Sunday dinners!

In addition we need to maintain a healthy lifestyle by exercising and eating correctly! Being positive and doing positive activities will enhance our graceful age as well! We are beautiful today and we will be forever because our beauty is TIMELESS!

Confessions of 3 year old`s mommy

I have been experiencing major mommy guilt these past few months! I decided to quilt my job in public safety to stay at home with my son because I have worked since he was in my belly lol, kind of a break I guess....did I mention on the 2nd shift! Anyway I thought this would be far less difficult but I guess I didn't get the memo on the energetic toddler who loves the word NO! I never had postpartum but lawd have mercy something hit me like a ton of bricks BOOM because he wants his way and I need my space/outlet in which I feel bad about me feeling this way. I love my son dearly and its just me 25/8 however he has his moments and I understand but wish he was newborn at times so I can at least use the powder room ALONE in peace! Well I hope I stop feeling this way or at least learn how to handle wanting my time and space. He recently started preschool last summer and can you believe I don't have dinner waiting when he comes home smh! I want to be the type of mom who cooks everything from scratch and do activities with him in house. We do everything together because without him my life would not be as fulfilled as it and for that I am grateful! I absolutely love being a mom and felt that I was born to do this job but now I just feel like I am not nurturing/soothing enough and/or slacking in some of my mommy duties. Well he didn't come with instructions so we are in this together the way God intended so I just need to find the balance that works best for me and celebrate as much as possible because in a few years he will playing college football at an HBCU in which he better call me everyday or every other day! I enjoy and cherish our mommy and me time but I need to kick it up a notch! I think that is why I have become a social media butterfly moreover its my mini mommy get away! Chase means the stars and moon to me with that infectious smile and silly spirit!

I was watching Tia and Tamera a few weeks ago and she had her own mommy guilt issues and pose the question does the guilt ever go away??

I Need To Catch Some Air

This past Saturday evening the little guy and I went to a birthday party at Catch Air, the Sandy Springs location! Its like Kangazoom and Monkey Joe's but it has a playground attached in addition to smaller centers like the swinging beach balls, that was a big hit with Chase! However mommies don't come up in there with yo fresh pedi because EVERYONE must wear socks in the play area! It is a very clean facility and the staff was friendly so if you are in the north Atlanta area this may be the spot for you. They have other locations in that area as well. If you have a party there you get to have pics of the bday star on the "Big Screen" and the party guest get to have a special dance on the dance floor with a popular character while the bubble machine is blowing........oh to be a kid again! We had a fantastic time at Catch Air btw this play space was new to me but I`m always looking for a fun place to take the kiddo. So come on an Catch some Air www.catchairparty.com

                                                          The famous swinging beach balls

                                                                         Chase just hop in!

                                                                         HUGE slide

See the dance floor and when they step on them the lights change colors

Far view of the party room

Where do you take your kiddos for jumping fun? Oh and remember those socks!!

Autism Speaks Walk

It doesn't matter if you had children this was a great cause to be apart of so I`m glad I could do my part. I joined my Mocha Mom sisters in our community service project to walk for Autism Speaks at Atlantic Station. It was a pretty nice crowd filled with support teams, they also had lots of information for Autism. Yall know I was late! Autism effects all races, creeds, and colors all over the world. It is made up of several complex brain development disorders. (www.autismspeaks.org) These disorders are characterized, in varying degrees, by difficulties in social interaction, verbal and nonverbal communication and repetitive behaviors. It can be diagnoses as early as 2-3yo moreover that's why this walk was so important because research and treatment are still needed. Even if you didn't walk they had activities and great interaction surrounding the cause including a DJ!

                                                                    One team supporting

My Mocha sister and I, never mind the burgundy shirt underneath I`m wearing!

I simply told him that these kids are special just like you!
